It was once believed that sage could ensure longevity and sometimes even immortality. To do this we ate a small quantity of sage every day or, at the very least, in May, because:

If you want one of your wishes to come true, write it on a sage leaf that you hide under your pillow. Use this pillow to sleep for three consecutive nights. If you dream of your wish, it will materialize; otherwise, bury the sage in the ground to avoid experiencing misfortune.
 
Sage is used in fumigation for cleaning and protection. Its leaves and branches are also burned as incense to purify.
